XCar Says Range Rover Sport Handles In An Unnatural Manner For A Big SUV

The Range Rover Sport SVR is not the absolutely fastest performance SUV around, but it is definitely one of the best-looking.

Don’t get me wrong, it’s not slow. 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) takes just 4.7 seconds and it can reach a top speed of 260 km/h (162 mph). That’s rather remarkable for a bulky SUV that weighs 2.3 tonnes (5,070 lbs).

Besides going fast, the SVR produces an angry sound that will make you step hard on the gas whenever the opportunity arises. That’s due to the specially-tuned 5.0-liter supercharged V8 engine, which produces 550PS (542hp) and 680Nm (501lb-ft) of torque in the SVR.

So what’s it like to drive? XCar’s Alex Goy says it doesn’t feel like a heavy car, which is great news for a performance-oriented model. The ride is smooth even in the sportiest setting, which is also good news. But probably the best thing about the Range Rover Sport SVR is that it handles in a manner best described as “unnatural,” as the reviewer discovers.
