Koenigsegg Regera Powertrain Wound Up To The Equivalent Of 350 KM/H / 217 MPH

The Koenigsegg Regera has so far only been a pretty shape and a collection of mind boggling numbers. We’ve seen it on the move, but up until now we had not seen its V8 / electric motor combo in action – we were really curious what those fish tail exhausts were going to sound like.

If you remember Christian von Koenigsegg’s explanation as to why they went for that solution, it was apparently adopted to make the sound signature exciting even as the engine only turns very low rpm.

We had heard it idling, and we kind of got what he was on about, but now with this official video curiously shared on Instagram the plan is clear. It shows a Regera being bench tested from the equivalent of 50 km/h / 35 mph all the way up to 350 km/h / 217 mph.

It doesn’t sound overly spectacular by regular V8s standards, but for a system as peculiar as this, we are impressed.
