Infiniti has quietly released a new photo of its Q30 premium hatchback ahead of the model’s world debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show.

The image offers a better look at the Q30’s profile, which is slightly less dramatic than that of the Q30 Concept that previewed it but has kept the distinctive shape of the C-pillar. Viewed from this angle, the upper lateral crease that spans the entire width of the car seems even more pronounced than in the first photo.

Also, in this new photo the Q30 doesn’t appear to ride as high as in the first official photo.

Whether that impression is due to the angle of the shot or to the fact that the Q30 has a suspension with a variable ride height it remains to be seen.

No new details were offered, but we do know that the Infiniti Q30 shares the MFA platform with the Mercedes-Benz A-Class. The “2.2d” badge on the Q30’s fenders suggests it is equipped with the Mercedes-sourced 2.2-liter diesel four-cylinder engine. In the Euro-spec Infiniti Q50, this engine is mated to either a six-speed manual or a seven-speed automatic transmission and produces 168hp (170PS) and 400Nm (295lb-ft) of torque.
