Nissan's new 2016 Maxima served as the official Safety Car at Oak Tree Grand Prix in Virginia. The Maxima will resume Safety Car duties at Lone Star Le Mans, Sept 17-19.

If you haven't already heard, Nissan are calling their all-new Maxima a 4DSC (4-Door Sports Car) - and if you know your cars, you're probably a bit underwhelmed.

That of course didn't stop the Japanese manufacturer to wrap up the 2016 Maxima in honor of the Oak Tree GP (took place last weekend, Aug 21-23), and have it perform as the official Safety Car of the Virgina International Raceway.

Those that missed the event and want to check out the Maxima Safety Car some more, should make sure they catch it while on duty at the Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas on Sept 17-19.

Of course, Nissan is also an official partner of IMSA - the sanctioning body for the TUDOR United SportsCar Championship. On top of that, they have some skin in the game too with the Doran Racing 370Z in action at the Lone Star Le Mans race in September.

Now, if you're wondering about performance, just know that we're wondering about the same thing. Odds are that under the hood, this Maxima holds a 3.5 liter VQ-series V6 unit, good for 300 HP.
