Artist C.A.Grende has worked in the fine art field professionally for over 30 years; she began painting at age 10 and sculpting at age 12. After graduating from High School in 1974 she was soon showing in many National Art Shows and International Shows as far away as London England displaying both paintings and sculptures.
Carol’s work is realistic and detailed; her research is in depth, from anatomy to the smallest details of a period uniform. Horses are one of her specialties, they have been a life long love since childhood, you can see the love and the knowledge she has of them when you look at her equestrian art.
History and the equestrian art go hand in hand; one of her goals is to do monuments depicting both subjects. Although she has said that the sculpture, “Thomas Jefferson the Naturalist” was a culmination of her career to that point. Here she was able to place wildlife among the many specimens and artifacts sent by Lewis and Clark in the spring of 1805 to President Thomas Jefferson. Wildlife is the main body of her work in bronze, Carol spends many hours riding horses observing wildlife and going on adventures to our National Parks to photograph these majestic animals.
Grende has produced more than 100 sculptural designs; some editions are sold out.
At this time in her career Carol is focused on History, this is truly a passion for her. Raised in the West where a wonderful world of traces upon the land of those who have gone before abounds. With the celebrations for the Bicentennial years of the Lewis and Clark Expedition, a perfect stage has been set for Grende’s inspiration and subjects, her motto says it all.

“History Lives in Bronze”
